During a trading session on February 28, 2007 on FORTS there has been set a new record on trading volume on futures contracts on RTS Index. By the end of the trading day the trading volume made 104 811 contracts, which exceeds 1,5 times more the figure, fixed on July 6, 2006 - 71 793 contracts.
By the trading session closure for the first time the number of trades made on futures and options exceeded 50 thousand and made 50435 trades. The previous record was set on February 13, 2007 – 44945 trades.
FORTS (Futures and Options on RTS) Derivatives Market is the leading trading platform for futures and options in Russia. More than 90% of the futures contracts volume belongs to FORTS.
At the moment FORTS has the widest range of financial instruments in Russia. These are 25 contracts (16 futures and 9 options contracts) on the shares of the Russian companies, bonds, short-term interest rates, currency, RTS Index, oil, gold and diesel oil.
The trading volume on FORTS in 2006 exceeded 100 billion dollars. All in all in 2006 on FORTS there were more than 5 million trades made with 89,6 million contracts. The average daily open interest on standard contracts in 2006 rose by 259,5% in rubles and in December reached 5 billion dollars.
